Shower Bar, and subsequently Shower PUK were born out of our love to travel, and to travel light.
Carrying large bottles of multiple liquids around seems silly when the obvious answer was, and had always been there. The problem was in the UK especially its image was old, tired and its perceived use was only for washing hands.
At this time the world was waking up to plastic waste and becoming significantly more environmentally aware than we had ever seen before. The beauty of soap is it’s compact, plastic free and lighter than every bottle of shower gel and performs just as well. No compromise.
We set out to bring soaps up to date and change peoples mindset about them - Shower Bar was born. Given one of the best places we had found to buy soaps was France (no trip was complete without a re-stock) we started with the classic Provence shape.
We consulted with several UK manufacturers however the response was warm at best. We then located a French manufacturer in the heart if the high alpine Provence region. They loved our idea and we set about working on formulations that retained the key elements of a fine soap but adding in ingredients to make them more shower friendly. In late 2019 Shower Bar launched under its old name ‘Baron’.
We quickly identified that while we loved our design, the classical shape and image of the product (as did our customers) we had maybe missed a key demographic in that we had targeted ourselves! We started to consider what would appeal to a younger generation and so after some thought and some failed attempts Shower PUK was born. The same formulation reimagined in a PUK form and combined with a tough travel case.
Next came the all over formulations. We Knew from feedback that our customers were using our products all over anyway as a lot of people do however labelling and purpose of use is a huge thing within cosmetics so we added in more condition ingredients to our formulation to create PUK Pro & Shower Bar Complet.
Since launching we have been busy building a loyal following of customers all over the UK and further afield. Challenges aside we enter 2022 with a new range ‘Soap on a Rope’ and continue to find new customers daily.
